A privacy leak at a small practice doesn't need a hacker.

It takes a password with no second step, a laptop left in a car, or a login nobody shut off. Here are the five fixes that close the biggest gaps, step by step. Tick them off as you go.

A password alone is what most break-ins get past. A code from your phone stops a stolen password from being enough.

  1. In your records or booking system, open your account or security settings and look for “two-factor” or “2-step verification”. Turn it on.
  2. Use an authenticator app (Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) rather than text messages if you're given the choice.
  3. Do the same for your email. Google: myaccount.google.com, then Security. Microsoft 365: mysignins.microsoft.com, then Security info.

One more, takes 10 seconds: check if someone could email your clients pretending to be you.

Rather not do this alone?

These five cover the obvious doors. The Checkup looks at all 12 areas of your practice, then we close your top three gaps with you in a live session. If we don't find three things worth fixing, you don't pay.

Free, 15 minutes on video. We never need your passwords.
